I was born and spent my childhood in Montreal before moving to the Toronto area in my adolescence. I’ve been interested in philosophical questions since a young age and have pursued education and experience in the study of art, culture, and politics. I was introduced to psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic theory through undergraduate and graduate work in cultural studies and critical theory and I maintain my interest in what psychoanalysis has to contribute to pressing social and political questions.
My current research interests include questions around sex, sexuality and gender; public and professional discourses around mental health; and comparative psychoanalysis.
The way I think and work is shaped most deeply by the work of Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, Jean Laplanche and the communities of thinkers and practitioners that carry their torches.
I am also shaped by thinkers such as Melanie Klein, Erich Fromm, R.D. Laing, Alfred Adler, Victor Frankl, and Carl Rogers; as well as fields such as Queer, Feminist, and Postcolonial theory. I believe in interdisciplinary cross-pollination and place great value in considering the questions and findings of related fields.
